about

Notice!

The CD contains one long track.

The digital data[Edit for Bandcamp] is a re-edited version.

The five-channel sound installation "Stolen Scars" by Eiki Mori was exhibited in the "Takamatsu Contemporary Art Annual vol.10 There Is No Boundaries Here./?” at the Takamatsu Art Museum from February 11 to March 21, 2022. And this is the documentary soundtrack of that work.

“There is a boy who has been deeply hurt, heartbroken and has not recover yet. You can’t talk to him or rub his back. Instead, you can only ring this bell for him.”

When Mori created "Stolen Scars,” he first sent a handbell and the above note to his friends. They recorded the sound of handbells in their own environment and with their own feelings. Mori looped the recorded data and created five sound sources. In the museum installation, different loop sound sources were repeatedly played from five horn speakers placed near the ceiling of the exhibition space.

The documentary sound was recorded in cooperation with the Takamatsu Art Museum during the hours after the museum closed. Recording, mixing, and mastering was done by Masami Baba(salad). He also participated as a co-star in a performance version of "Stolen Scars" that was held as a related event to the exhibition.

The performance can be viewed on the Takamatsu Art Museum's Instagram below.

The CD package includes an English translation of the correspondence between Koichi Miyazaki, a certified clinical psychologist and certified psychologist, and Mori, which was distributed at the exhibition. In the correspondence, they begin with the subject of this work, they talk about the current state of male injury and sexual abuse, long considered an invisible issue within gender norms.
